akani-simbine-videoThe South African, Akani Simbine, run really fast during the Gyulai Istvan Memorial, a meeting that took place on the 18th of July in Székesfehérvár, Hungary; in fact, the sprinter set the new National Record for 100m, beating Asafa Powell and Mike Rodgers.

Asafa Powell had a great starting but, at middle stretch, he was overtaken by the athlete in the second lane, Simbine (born in 1993) who managed to keep up and to reach the finish line in 9″89. Second position for Powell with 9″92 and third one Mike Rodgers with 10″12.

The time is not only his PB and National Record but 5th world time of the season as well, after the 9″88 set by Jimmy Vicaut and Usain Bolt.
